WOMAN KILLED BY POLICE FOR CHARGING A COP WITH AN AXE AFTER THEY GAVE HER AN EVICTION NOTICE
Gallatin, TN – Gallatin police have released body camera footage from an officer-involved fatal shooting.
The shooting happened Wednesday at an apartment where a woman was being evicted.
Police said the woman, LaRonda Sweatt, first attacked a Sumner County Sheriff’s deputy with an ax.
Officer James Spray’s body camera shows Sweatt advancing toward him and threatening him with the ax.
Spray was backed up against his police car before firing two shots at Sweatt.
Police said officers attended to Sweatt. She later died at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
Spray has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
